WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY!

Welcome to Day Academy

John M Johnson says:

I reviewed my notes, and made a list of all the courses I've taken with you; Frederick was #25.  My first was Martin Luther in 2022 (there may have been an earlier one), and I had 5 with you in OLLI, and then 20 on your platform.  I'm a copious note taker, because I learned long ago that helps me to learn.  I didn't count the pages of notes I have on your courses, but it must be 350-400.  I simply think you're the best.  Given my own significant experience of over five decades in the university, I think I can discern a thing or two about good teachers, and the not-so-good.  And I think you're the best!  I can tell you're at the top of your game, and I know from my own experience how long it takes to develop some of the amazing knowledge you have, such as the lineages of the royals down to the cousins and once-removed ne're-do-wells.  You amaze me with your incredible ability to organize a 90 minute presentation, and cover what you can cover in four classes.  Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us, I think I paid over $1,500, but truth-be-told I would have paid much more.  I'm especially impressed with your ability at painting the "Big Picture," linking what is going on in one part of the world with what is happening on the other side of the earth.  I have even recognized some of the shortcomings of my own teaching in Justice Studies at ASU for 40 years.

That last class on Frederick was amazing, I took 7 pages of notes.  And then today, on Madison's war, I matched that with another 7 pages!

Thanks again,

John M. Johnson

  •   The History of Connecticut lecture series by Jared Day, PhD was the most interesting and thorough presentation on this topic one could access.  Our members looked forward to his weekly hour-long talks, accented with illustrations and photographs, covering in depth the events, the people involved, and the general atmosphere involved in the growth of this small state.  We highly recommend this series and Jared Day’s work.

  • Susana I & John J say about  Our "From Open Door to ICE: Immigration policy, Economics and Power" Lecture Series:
  •   Extraordinary! Sensational!  Exceptional!  These words roll from our tongues to celebrate your excellent course on Immigration & ICE.  It was very comprehensive, we have lived through much of this.  We are very knowledgeable about immigration, but I could not have matched your exquisite puzzle of a course plan.  I stand in awe of your exceptional performance."  From a participant in the course, From Open Door to ICE: Immigration policy, economics and power.

  •   The online History of Connecticut series by Jared Day is a “must” for any member of a Connecticut Historical Society. Mr. Day does an excellent job of exploring the details of the conflict and revolt in Connecticut between 1700 and 1783. It will be time well spent for you in learning about the Connecticut history of this important period."

  •   Members turned out in force for Jared Day's online series about the history of Connecticut and they showed up week after week. Professor Day offered a thoughtful and thorough examination of our storied past that was accessible to all, even sharing recordings of sessions for those who could not attend in real time.  One viewer commented that this should be mandatory for all Connecticut middle and high school students. This engaging series was a wonderful program to offer our members.

  •  Dear Dr Day,
I just want to say thank you for all that you do to educate about Connecticut history and history, in general. I really appreciate also that you give this series away and that we can use it as a membership benefit. I think we gained new members because of it.
You’re a great historian, thank you.

  •   Joe Fox says about Day Academy:
  •  "...I love catching your programs while I’m exploring Our World. I have listened to you in Central Park to Baku to Scotland  to our rail trails in CT and beyond...."

  •  Laurie Ashby says about Day Academy:
  • "....I just finished the Egypt series and I wanted to mention what an amazing group of lectures they were. I was so impressed with each one. I wish I had listened to your series before I went to Egypt in 2019…your lectures gave me more information than any of the guides we had on our tours! Thank you as always for your impressive scholarship."
  • Regards,
  • Laurie Ashby
